🗓 Weekly Coordination Meeting
23/03/2026
Davide P.
- Fantini: requesting updates on final designs; potential copper machining slot soon after Easter.
- Bussetti informed about the successful gas-tightness test.
- Fan-in/fan-out: 3 units confirmed at LNF.
Davide F.
- GEM assembly: first GEM stack assembled at LNF; alignment issue found between inner and external frames.
- Fix agreed: slot all external-frame holes by 2 mm per side on both GEM stacks; Tecnoalarm to machine; Daniele to deliver updated drawings by 23/03.
- CERN GEMs/cathodes: GEM3 has critical issues (v-bond causing shorts on protection resistors). CERN confirmed new GEMs for the second stack will ship soon. CERN also remaking cathodes; team ready to contribute 400 CHF provided all edges/tips are rounded for safe 50 kV operation.
- Copper box movement (Hall F): inspection confirmed the box can be transported already assembled into the experimental area. Plan: remote-controlled crane + mobile air cushion; estimated cost ~€5k. Davide F. to verify with SPP and LNGS Technical Coordination whether temporary corridor wall-sheet removal is allowed and what documentation is required.
- Copper drawings: workflow unblocked after the stall.
- Field cage/infrastructure: missing closure holes may be added using a dedicated punching tool designed by Daniele. Pre-commissioning infrastructure progressing, but some 30×30 Bosch aluminum profiles still missing.
- Follow-ups: organize broader Hall F inspection with full team later (not urgent). Check HV cable compatibility in Hall F. Discuss thin PMT window solution with Giorgio. Evaluate whether the second GEM shipment can use an existing CERN transport on 01/04.
Giorgio
- Analysis: Luan optimizing digitization (Quest high/low gain and Fusion), implemented Atul’s variables for ER/NR discrimination tests.
- Analysis meeting on Thursday with expected presentation from Luan.
- PMTs: open question on how to test/validate; Giorgio to ask Luigi to write regarding cathode modifications (action right after meeting).
- Outreach: asked to give a directional DM talk to CSN2 in April.
Giulia
- Simulations: dedicated simulations of 8 keV X-rays from GEM copper available on the cloud; Emanuele + Davide P. will digi-reconstruct and analyze.
- Computing: Emanuele exploring use of CNAF queues via a dedicated account (instead of notebook-based running).
16/03/2026

- Paper on field cage (Alex + Giorgio): replying to reviewers.
Stefano
- Rb-83 source: no reply from both contact persons.
- DAQ: meeting last week; discussed gas tightness tests with N₂ and operating condition of ~3 ± 2 mbar overpressure.
- DAQ: new DAQ tested in long MANGO data taking; performance OK so far.
09/03/2026
Davide P.
- Trigger module: Herman ready; this week he will assemble the 50 Ω termination resistors in the Trigger Module.
- Gas system validation: source flange + new O-ring tested successfully; 1/8" gas connectors tested successfully up to +3 mbar.
- CAD workflow: 3DExperience permissions issue is slowing the closure of the copper box drawings.
Davide F.
- Humidity sensor: current provider cannot work with Public Administration; searching for an alternative supplier.
- O₂ sensor: waiting for quote and required documents.
- Copper box drawings: 3DS issue solved; Antonio to provide the drawings this week.
- Inner GEM frames: retrofitted by Tecnoalarm; assembly test scheduled for tomorrow.
- Rometec order: first batch submitted.
- Hall F: inspection/walkthrough with technicians and LNGS services to finalize service routing paths.
- Water tanks: new transport to LNF today.
- This week: preparing the setup for Herman to test the trigger module.
- LN2 line requirement: should be a continuous copper line (not stainless steel / Swagelok).
